Rodrigo Braga

Inspired both by classic western artists (Joni MitchellBjork) and the vibrant music of Brazil (JobimMilton Nascimento,Caetano Veloso), Rodrigo Braga’s music finds a comfortable blend of the sounds from the two countries he calls home.

Rodrigo Braga was born in Brazil and grew up surrounded by ‘Musica Popular Brasileira’ (MPB) - an umbrella term for the varied musical styles originating in Brazil. Growing up in the UK, Rodrigo had significant local success with prog-rockers Sub-Opt in Edinburgh, supporting the likes of alt-jazz kings Acoustic Ladyland and 90’s chart-toppers Embrace.

In 2008, looking for a change of scene, Rodrigo took the time to travel and eventually found himself on a tiny Pacific island with blue skies and his nylon-stringed violão. Surrounded by intense natural beauty, Rodrigo began writing songs of a more soulful nature.

Rodrigo’s debut album Between the Waves is out now and he is currently performing in London venues such as The Bedford, The Half Moon and The Water Rats.
